Lil Boosie: “I Need Some Rehab. Jail Is Not Rehab.” PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 25 November 2009 11:54

After initially stating his forthcoming prison sentence would be beneficial to his career, Louisiana emcee Lil’ Boosie is now remorseful and saddened about the term that will keep him behind bars for an estimated two years.

Boosie, real name Torrence Hatch, was originally convicted of a third offense for marijuana possession.

The jail term was then exacerbated when Boosie violated his house arrest order to complete two concert dates.

According to Boosie, his sentencing was based on his rap persona over his actual behavior, which was simply to provide support for his 7 children and another still to be born.

Also, the rapper had been sued before for not fulfilling show dates, and wanted to prevent any further legal complications before going to prison.

“They’re treating me on who they think I am. They judging me on Boosie Bad Azz, not Torrence Hatch,” Boosie stated to Louisiana’s WAFB channel 9. “I had to do these two shows these last two days to feed my family.”

Aside from the marijuana convictions, Boosie has previous arrests on battery, weapons charges, and attempted bribery of a police officer.

This contentious history with the law is something Boosie admits is the result of his own reckless decisions.

“I blame it on myself, because things I did I wanted to. Trouble is easy to get into, but it’s hard to get out. I won’t be able to see my child born, yeah that hurts,” he stated.

Although the marijuana conviction is his third, the 26 year old struggles to understand why his sentencing was so harsh after revealing he has an addiction.

“If I made a mistake with marijuana, why am I not eligible for rehab?” Boosie questioned. “I’ve been on marijuana since a teenager. I need some rehab. Jail is not rehab.”

For his young fans, the reflective young rapper offered education as the main tool to stay away from the street life that encompasses his art.

“School is the first thing, once you stay in school and make up your mind you want to be somebody, the negatives will go away,” he explained. “And stay away from the negative people.

At press time, Lil Boosie is in custody at Winn Correctional Center in Louisiana, and serving his two year sentence. Following its completion, he will be required to finish 5 years of probation.

I feel ya. That probation is the most messed up part. But how are you going to tell a person to finish all they time when they tease you with probation release? If you have to go to jail finish ya time so you don't have to answer to anybody when you get out. I know it easier said than done but I that is my advise for people that is locked up. All they P.O s do is throw our people back in for minor violations.

I'm sick of seeing talented people behind bars cuz of "Weed". Are you kidding me? There's more people in prisons on marijuana charges than any other charge then combining them. Fucked up. The law knows weed aint shit, but continue to put people and keep people in prisons because of money. If they legalize, all those people that have possession charges would b released. Puttin alot of these cock sucking law enforcers outta jobs. Not to mention pharmaceutical companies would plummet. I watched "The Union: Business Behind Getting High" and it opened my eyes immensely. Weed doesn't kill braincells either, it stimulates them. Nor does it have any cancerous attributes. Not one person, ever, has died of weed only use. Yet, cigarettes are the number one killer next to boose. What the fuck!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck Mr. Badass. Us fans'll b waiting and praying for you. Fuck rehab, get ur card nigga smilies/smiley.gif

A two year prison sentence seems rather excessive in these circumstances. Especially when there's real crime to be fought on the streets today. Seems like a huge waste of time and space that our tax dollars are paying for.

Probation will be worse than the 2 years. Cant cheat probation screens easy unless they dont watch. Like others said, probation is a way to get them back in the system and if a probationer happens to complete probation, the system still made money off your fees and such. The reason they do not legalize marijuana is because the pharmaceutical industry would lose billions upon billions very quickly. Marijuana would treat a great number of issues and that is why the money would be lost so quickly. Furthermore, the pain pills and such on the street would go down as less people would be seeking them thus it costs law enforcement and the judicial system money when they are not catching the pill heads and dealers. Furthermore, marijuana is how it is because it helps keeps the black man down. Jails and prisons have many different ethnicities and such but none more than black and that is how it is designed to be. Prison is the modern slavery.

The way I see it, citizens dont belong in jail or prison over having drugs. Drug violence is another story. I remember that he did have a pistol but when your famous, you need one on you. If you have security, they should be the ones pulling pistols if the situation arises but that does not negate the need to have one for yourself in emergency. Boosie being locked up is a waste.

Ive always been told that prison is a business all about money. I never realized how literal that was until I discovered that prison is a booming industry. Ten years ago, there 5 private prisons in the country. Now, it is well over a 100. In 1990, one million citizens were locked away in prison. In 2000, two million citizens were locked away in prison. Wallstreet knew what was going on and prison stocks went through the roof. Those that invested made outrageous amounts of money. China has a population atleast 5 times ours yet the U.S. locks up 500,000 more citizens. No civilization in history has ever imprisoned anywhere near the level that the U.S. is. I wish more people knew the truth and would demand change. If anyone wants a good read on prison economics, read the following http://www.globalresearch.ca/i...a&aid=8289

Come on

2 years for a marijuana conviction? This shit is silly. Forget the fact that it is medically legal in 13 states and forget the fact that marijuana has never killed anyone. If cigarettes and alcohol are legal there is no way marijuana should be illegal. I hope everyone that reads this does a little reasearch on the subjet. Check out norml.com for some truly scary statistics. 800,000 americans are imprisoned every year for simple possesion of marijuana. Which is truly a victimless crime. This is about making money, period! The private prison industry is the number one industry in the United states. "The more man smokes weed, the more babylon falls" a quote from the great Bob Marley. Marijuana truly opens your mind and thoughts. That is probaly the reason so many creative people use it. Sorry for the long post but this is one topic that drives me crazy. Just a little FYI, marijuana has recently been proven to fight cancer cells. Google it it if you doubt it. The bottom line is the three biggest contributors to political parties Alcohol,Pharmacutical and Cigarettes companies have been feeding the American people theses bullshit lies for 70 years. Marijuana has been used for centuries for hundreds of different reasons and until the 1930's was the number 1 ingriedient in all medicines. Even Bayer the number one aspirin company's biggest seller was a marijuana tincture up until about 1937. Please people get informed. The last thing the goverment wants is free thinkers.

Peace

Also I think Boosie is a straight dumbass for asking for rehab for a drug that has been scientificlly proven to be one of the least addictive drugs known to man.Sorry I keep adding so much, but one last point. Marijuana is list as a schedule 1 narcotic along side herion because it has "no medical value". Yet it is approved for medical purposes in 13 states. Because it has been medically proven to treat 131 medical conditions and illnesses.

Is what I say! Seems like everytime I open this sitevtheres a new story about a young up and comer or a legend getting put away/charged with gun possesion/drugs. Why? I really dont understand, theyve made so much money off of doing something they truly love doing, why are they ruining all their hard work by being thrown in jail over a charge that could have easily been prevented?

Weed aint a drug, it was outlawed to save the goverments lumber intrestes. when marijuana was outlawed , hemp was about to take over paper production. now how could senators who have millions invested in lumber loose money..outlaw the compitition. 50mg of nicotene kills 250 pound men. 50mg of thc keeps a 250 pound man laughing for hrs.. if u wanna ban something thats deadly ban cigarettes...o wait the goverment has their hand in that pocket to..
