Former Chopper City Boys group member Rapper VL Mike was shot to death earlier today (April 20) in New Orleans. VL Mike, born Michael Allen, 32, was shot to death when a man shot him to death, as he exited his vehicle between Paris Avenue and Overton Drive.

The rapper was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the gunman escaped on foot and have yet to release information on a suspect or a motive in the slaying, which was the city's seventh murder in the past four days.

VL Mike, who resided in New Orleans and Atlanta, was featured on The Chopper City Boyz' debut album We Got This and recorded tracks with rappers like Webbie and The Game.

He left The Chopper City Boyz shortly after the release of We Got This, after a falling out with leader B.G.

VL Mike recorded a diss record against B.G. titled "Ether."

He was rumored to be in negotiations with several labels to release his new album, including The Game's Black Wall Street.

Some people dont know anythang but the hood and thats why they have trouble leaving, often never do. I think its a personality thang. Some people will tell you they gon leave the hood and never come back, some people will tell you the hood all they know, how they gon leave it? Jus know that you leave the hood, you aint got the same respect when you come back.

Another life erased....

People get so caught up in the method that rappers "entertain" that they forget that these guys are regular everyday people, with families, friends, and loved ones that care about them. Mike Green has been taken away from those who love him and that is the sad part. People have no value of a human life and they are quick to rob someone of the rest of their life. But at the same time, all of the rappers who have been murdered have spoken words of death at some point in time, the most famous being Tupac Shakur saying "five shots to the chest couldnt stop me, I took it and smiled". It's like the Good Book says, life and death is in the power of the tongue. These guys have to be careful when they speak those things, because many times the words we speak come true. To the family of Michael "VL Mike" Green, I am sorry for your loss and may God guide you through these rough times.

its sad both ways, it's a eerie feeling to pity da proud, yet sad to see anyone go. the tragedy is the entire city itself.
