Rapper Andre 3000 Arrested For Driving Porshe 109 MPH PDF Print E-mail

Revered Atlanta rapper Andre 3000 was arrested outside of Atlanta on Saturday (March 28), for driving his 2007 Porsche Carrera at speeds so excessive police called him “an accident waiting to happen.” According to a report by local ABC-affiliate WSB-TV Monday afternoon (March 30), the Grammy Award winning rapper/actor was arrested by a member of the Henry County Police Department’s Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic Team early Saturday morning.

The officer stated that he clocked Andre 3000, born Andre Benjamin, at 109 mph, 44 mph over the 65 mph speed limit along that stretch of I-75.

Benjamin was arrested for the danger he posed to other drivers.

“Traveling that fast along 75, you’re passing people as if they’re standing still,” explained Henry County Police Captain Jason Bolton. “It’s an accident waiting to happen.”

The arrest comes as State Representative Jim Cole is lobbying for a new Super Speeder Bill to be passed in the state of Georgia.

The law would impose an additional $200 fine for any driver stopped for driving at more than 85 miles an hour on highways and four-lane roads. Georgia Governor Sonny Purdue has indicated his support of the bill, which he intends to sign into law before summer.

Representative Cole stated that he hopes Benjamin will lend his support to the cause.

“He might be willing to help us market it,” Cole told WSB-TV.

The Outkast co-founder was released after posting an unspecified bond amount.

He is scheduled to appear in court to face charges associated with the incident on April 29.

At press time, representatives for Andre 3000 could not be reached for comment.

On Sunday (March 29), Benjamin wrapped up a live revival of his award-winning cartoon “Class of 3000,” which made a comeback as a stage play earlier this month.

The play, based on the short-live Cartoon Network Series’ pilot episode, “Life Without Music,” was presented for a month-long run as a partnership between Andre 3000 and the Alliance Theater in Atlanta.

According to Andre, who hopes to bring the play to schools around the country, he wanted to create an experience that would encourage kids to explore music beyond what is offered by the mainstream.

"I wanted to make sure it wasn't the teenybopper, kiddie sounds or stupid songs," he told the Associated Press. "I wanted to introduce them to different styles of music I was introduced to. From funk to jazz to calypso music, just to let them know there's a base from what they are hearing now."

Despite great critical acclaim and a 2007 Emmy Award for Individual Achievement in Animation, “Class of 3000” was cancelled in early 2008.

The decision to bring the show to live came shortly there after, at the request of the Alliance Theater’s director Rosemary Newcott, who told the Associate Press it was a “no-brainer” because of Benjamin’s impact through the show.

"The whole spirit of this show is infused with him, with his sense of humor and his love for music," she raved. "That's a valuable trait that draws people in."

People speed all the time. The media is getting so bad that they feel this is an important issue to bring up to the public. Why? To maybe make him look bad? Who cares, let this man be.

...and who goes to court for a speeding ticket? I don't believe he's trying to fight the case, so I'm assuming that the courts are taking this too far maybe?? I dunno.

henry county strikes again
written by vic229, March 31, 2009
no dope no d.u.i. we won this one. gucci mane was traveling thru the same county.we all know what happened to him. i actually got stop in henry county. me and a friend was coming from a club that allowed artists to display their music. i won't call the name of the club for specific reasons, but it was located on bankhead. the route we had to take was 75 south to make it back home. we made it thru every county but henry county. i lost a vehicle there also. a mechanic sold it cause i couldn't move it off of his lot after an altercation. their gov't is so consolidated they do not even have a liquor store in their city. not saying that they need one. but this gives u an idea of what message they are trying to send. they pulled us over for nothing, they do a lot of profiling. this is how they get there money from traffic stops. their courtrooms stay full, it is like over a million dollar a month business for them. also beware of forsyth county, about 30 miles before you get henry county.

109 in a Porsche?
written by I.E. Cali Kid, March 31, 2009
109 in a Porsche is nothing major, I do that in my lil Ford Focus. I don't know how the laws are in Henry County Georgia, but out here in Southern California that's misdemeanor reckless driving, you get your ticket, and be on your way... it's like a $1000-$1500 fine (I'm more than sure A3000 has that at least times a couple thousand) no need for handcuffs... and what they book him for? Conspiracy to commit a traffic accident? Its not like he was driving a van or something that wasn't built to handle at high speeds, but he was cruising in his Porsche, and on a clear day with light traffic, 109 is quite safe. Where do all the people with Lambos and Continental GTs in Georgia drive their fast cars? Only doing 65 in a Lambo is like having a dyme piece you can only kiss and finger bang.

You should Fight your Tickets
written by Esteban, April 01, 2009
Just attempting to educate the public....

Will my Traffic Ticket Increase my Insurance Premium?
Yes, it is possible that a single traffic violation can increase your insurance. One speeding ticket can remain on your record for three years and place you into negative light with your insurance company. Multiple speeding tickets in one year can raise your insurance premiums in some case over $3,000.

How much could my Insurance Premium Increase?
Raising the insurance rates of speeders is an accepted custom in the insurance industry because speeding is cited as a factor in approximately one-third of all crash-related fatalities, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says.

Math Example: A single individual with a good driving record is paying $700.00 per year for statewide liability, collision and comprehensive coverage. In addition, they receive a 20% good driver discount and pay only $525.00. One speeding ticket could increase your base premium by 25%, or $525.00 over three years. A second minor conviction would cause the loss of the good driver discount and could raise your premium an additional 38%. More info http://www.ticketvoid.com/Why-TicketVoid

Cops have nothing better to do than to set speed traps, it's the laziest thing that gets them the most money.
