Lyrically, Joe Budden thinks that he’s Method Man’s superior and the notion has taken on new heights as the New Jersey rapper conducted an interview this morning. "I will cut that dudes head off his shoulders,” Budden said on the Ed Lover Morning Show. Budden wasn’t talking physically, but his verbage spoke volumes about how he feels he ranks above his Wu Tank counterpart.

"Method Man's not going to be able to survive [a lyrical battle],” Budden continued. “Its gonna be hard for him."

Budden told Ed Lover and Free of Power 105.1 in New York that he had respect for Meth and didn’t want to see anything turn violent.

“That is not knock against Method Man, Wu Tang, Redman – since he wanted to jump in too. I mean, I can’t be from Jersey and not love Redman,” Budden said.

The whole matter started after Vibe.com listed their Top 50 rappers in a tourney-style event to determine the best artist. Budden questioned the credibility of the list and the inclusion of several acts.

Method Man responded quickly by calling into the radio station.

“My folks advised me to take the high road. I’m a smart n***a so I know off top this dude is trying to bait me,” Meth said. “He been on medication since he was in junior high school. The n***a is certified crazy.”

“Every week he picks somebody to mess with and I ain’t really heard nobody respond to this dude except other dudes that’s on that same level as him.”

Meth did admit that Joe Budden is a worthy battle rapper, but said he would not be backing down.

“As far as battle rapping, by all means, Joe Budden gets it in. He’s a battle rapper. I ain’t never been known for battle rapping,” Meth said. “But I tell you this, I meet any challenge from any challenger.”

“On a lighter, note son can’t mess with me.” Meth said. “Stop being a cry baby.”

Method Man offered two options.

He said he wanted to see do a song with Joe Budden and let the fans decided who is best. He also proposed that he and Budden meet “face to face.”

I'm not that familiar with Joe Budden, can't really tell much about his skill (no interest) Besides that Meth has one of the best raw voices in Hip-Hop, he's definitly not a big lyricist, he lacks fantasy in his choise of rhymin' He's uses many of the same rhymes in different tracks... But... Meth is a big dog and commands much respect within the hiphop world, I think Joe has 2 get real, don't fuck with the O.G.'s buster!

I don't agree, but I don't disagree with what Joe's sayin. First of all, they're two incredibly gifted MCees. However, Mef's made an impact on hip hop with Wu that probably won't be surpassed ever. Joe would not rap the way he does without Mef, and without Wu. After that, it becomes this. Joe is the serious MC, and he's great at that. Mef is and always was the goofy drugged up rapper we all know and love. They can't be compared in quality because they're not in the same category of rappers. However, with Joe it's all lyrics because his flow isn't on par with what he's saying. Mef is the total package. Great flow, good lyrics. Scratch that, Voltron-type flow, great lyrics. His flow is everything. Joe is not in the league Mef is, and I doubt he ever will be. Not that he's not skilled enough. It's just..Wu has been the sound of NY's grimy streets for almost 20 years now. What has Joe gotta show?

I slept on Buddens for a long time until my cousin was on that Jay vs Buddens beef sh*t and played a few songs. Kid is nicer than I ever thought he was. That being said, Mefid is top 5 PERIOD!! I am not including these corny ass southern rappers you all seem to love so much that have no skill at all but get their candyland rhymes on the radio everyday. That is not to say there isn't some hot muva fu*kas from the bottom(Luda,3000,Big Boi,Little Brother,Face,Stat,Gucci and a few more are aiiight like Weez and Ti. I am joking about Gucci for the record. Top 5 If I had to make a group album would be Reggie,Meth,Joell,Jay and I wanna say Naz but I can't so I'm gonna say Eminem or Luda. Bottom Line is Meth is sick and has never battled till now and we all are in for some sh*t. When was the last time a legend who was never battle tested ripped someone apart first try??

Budden is nice, I'm a big fan, but it's annoying when this dude just goes out and looks for people to go after. Saigon hadn't done anything for a while, Joe makes a real weak attack at him and in my mind, got owned (Saigon called Buddens' kid gay haha). Whether you think Prodigy is a legend or not, he wasn't doing anything and Joe went after him. Meth has always minded his own business, and now Joe goes after him. Rather than tryina catch a buzz by dissing people (i.e. 50 cent), he should go out and let the music speak for his talent.

I don't even get why rappers keep trying to fuck with Wu. Wu's untouchable. Any rapper challenging any Wu-member to a lyrical battle will get his shit ruined, short of the likes of Pharoahe Monch and Rakim. Even if Joe is better, this is not the way to show it. He'll get eaten alive by Wu-Tang.

When it come to lyrics, Meth can not fuck with Joe. For those of you that dont listen to Joe, this message is not for you. Joe raps about things that niggas can relate to. He can rap about girls, sports, clothes, world events,family, anything. Meth on the other hand really doesnt rap about anything but clown shit. Meths delivery is maybe top 3 of all time, but he really dont say shit. He is sick with the Metaphors but that is about it. And when it comes to flopping, Meth might be king. He is a beast when he features on someone elses shit, but beside Tical his solo albums are trash. I feel Joe and AZ are the two most underated lyricist of all time. Why cant joe go at meth. If Joe Buddens continues to do what he's doing, his career is going to be destroyed just like Cannibus!!! He wants to make a name for himself by going at emcees. Just stick to doing music and leave the legends alone before you look like a JOE BUTTHEAD at the end of the day!
