Auto-Tune Creators Use Jay-Z To Hawk New Product PDF Print E-mail

Instead of scrambling to dismiss Jay-Z’s claims on “Death of AutoTune,” the technology’s creator Antares Audio is using the superstar’s stance for product advertisement. Dubbed the “next generation” of professional pitch correction, Antares Audio has created Auto-Tune Evo.

The new technology immediately deciphers the pitch of any inputted information, and finds the closest match in the scale the user specifies for pitch correction.

Included are minor, major, chromatic, and 26 other historical and microtonal scales.

Other new features for the product are real-time pitch shifting, throat modeling (vocal character modification), a redesigned user interface, and many more.

Hailed as a breakthrough upon its 1997 release, the Auto-Tune primarily was utilized to correct pitch and phrasing mistakes made by singers in their vocal performances.

Through other settings, the device can also be used to create dramatic distortions of the human voice such as echoing, and the now-famous computerized vocal effect first heard on Cher’s 1998 hit “I Believe.”

In recent years, the device has come to dominate the charts after prominent use from hit songwriter T-Pain and Kanye West on his multi-platinum album 808s & Heartbreak.

The Auto-Tune is often confused with its predecessor the talkbox (used by Roger Troutman, Peter Frampton, and Bon Jovi).

That device modifies the sound of instruments when a musician uses different speech sounds via a tube inserted in their mouths.

Jay-Z has stated his new single was created due to the Auto-Tune’s oversaturation, culminating with the mogul hearing the effect used in a Wendy’s commercial.

In a new press release, their new product is dubbed the “unequivocal response” to Jay-Z’s claims, asserting the Auto-Tune effect will remain a staple of the music industry.

However, the company does not address whether their creation will continue to have a future as a robotic vocal effect, or simply return to its original use of pitch correction.

At press time, Jay-Z could not be reached for comment.

If anyone can stop that gay as robot shit it would be a well respected and mainstream accepted LYRICIST! Thats who the fuck Jay is. If Kanye were to follow suit and diss that copper kid voice shit everyone is using that would put a bigger dent as well into the heads of USED TO BE HIP HOP FANS. If Nas does it nobody cares because he is more underground no matter how hard he tries(hip hop is dead). Where is Luda 3000 and Dre right now when HIP HOP needs them to back this shit up? 1 cat can't do it alone no matter who he is because all of the dumb niggaz^^^^^ would act like he garbage or doesn't know shit.

Set your Auto-Tune
written by Auto-Tune = not dead, July 02, 2009
Ok, you guys are such losers. Auto-Tune is definitely not dead. Oh and by the way haters of Auto-Tune, Jay-Z's album, Blueprint 3, was ALL AUTO-TUNE!!! So now how do you feel? The only reason he didn't use it is because he is mad that EVERYONE is using it. He like T-Pain and Kanye West, but he is not happy now because everyone is using it. Now because of that he thinks it's a gimmick, so that's why he released "DOA (Death of Auto-Tune)." In a recent interview, he stated the song is directed at every Auto-Tune user except T-Pain and Kanye West, since they started it after Roger Troutman. T-Pain before thought it was directed to him, so he was releasing his album earlier called "Uber." Jay-Z talked to T-Pain, who he agrees with, but is still going to release the album, who Jay-Z will be on with Auto-Tune, so you haters better shut-up now since I just stated the real facts.

how sad

This is to tre Steez. I think the niggaz jeans too tight is referring to the rappers that wear tight jeans and boast lyrics with gangsta esque qualities. To attack the general public would not makes sense cause "not everybody wants to be gangtsa" so you are right about that.

So he used in in the Blueprint 3, but it is not like he used it alot in his other albums. And even if he did, he is talking about the robotic effect opposed to the pitch effect.

That robotic shit is getting on my nerves cause everybody is doing it. Almost everyone sounds the same to be. I find it weird for rappers to use it. And then when RnB people use it: I get sick. I know alot of them do no not have perfect voice, but using that robotic shit is like a cop out. Hell give with a pretty face, maybe a nice body, and lyrics and there is an album.

Hate is a funny word. Like common said “If I don’t like it, I don’t like it, that don’t mean that I’m hatin” on like water. I dont like most mainstream rap. I will dance to it at a party, but when it comes down to me listening to music on public transportation or working out I would not put that stuff on my mp3. But if you people want to listen to it then fine. Hell let it burn by Usher did not appeal to me, but I am not going to protest to get that of the air.

But ask yourselves this honestly. Do you think the quality of rap has risen or has declined...I know it has changed, but would you say 90s was better than 2000 as a whole. Also do you honestly belive that majority of the rappers in this generation will be remembered for being influential or just hopping on the bandwagon?

T-Pain is an R&B artist who perfected the autotune...kanye did an album which wasn't a rap album (more on some coldplay/pink floyd shit)...so jay's point is that why are so many rappers, who are supposed to be lyricists falling back on the autotune...rapping is about lyrics delivery cadence just to point out a few...so when people just fall back on the autotune they fall out of the category of rap and are grouped into something else (don't really know what it is yet)...the problem is autotune users still claim themselves as rappers and i think it is a lie
