 Cash Money CEO’s Bryan “Slim” and Ronald “Baby” Williams have released their first public statement on the recent gun conviction of their star artist Lil Wayne.

Wayne plead guilty yesterday (October 22) to attempted weapons possession charges, and is expected to be sentenced to a year in prison.

“The Cash Money family will continue to support our artist and friend Lil Wayne in his current court case. We have worked with Wayne since he was a teenager, and have seen him grow into one of the world’s most successful hip-hop artists, with a work ethic that is second to none,” the Cash Money CEO’s said.

In the hours that followed, peers such as Slim Thug vehemently defended Wayne as being an unjust target due to his status as a black celebrity.

Others, such as ex-wife Toya Carter, opted to press that fans and media alike continue to support the rapper, and chastised those who have abandoned him.

With two freestyles (“Swag Surfin’,” “Wasted”) recently leaking from Wayne’s anticipated mixtape No Ceilings, the Williams brothers confirmed that Wayne will continue to receive the label’s full backing during this dark period.

“Wayne has our love and commitment during this difficult time. We always have and always will stand behind him,” the Williams brothers said.

As reported earlier, Lil Wayne is expected to serve at least 8 months of the 1 year prison sentence.

Lil Wayne and DJ Drama’s No Ceilings mixtape will be released on October 31.

Aside from mic skills, Lil' wayne is an artist regardless and his status is debateable about his lyrics, flow and his legendary mixtape skills. Point in case to note. Dude copped a plea to avoid serious jail time with something called DNA that would have tied him to having that gun (which he couldn't beat anyway) Slim Thug needs to stop lookin for excuses about his status as a black celebrity. Why would u have an unregistered gun (loaded, mind you?) On that bus. It's all about choices we make...And obviously Wayne made the wrong choice in this situation. Not to also mention that all the people on that tour bus are nothing but hangers-on just enjoyin the ride. If Wayne had any REAL friends, they would have helped him to make the right decision. Wayne is dope but Being a BLACK celebrity,you have to be smarter than the other celebrities. You have enough paper to NOT have unregistered guns and drugs on your tour bus or in your car. You can hire security,bodyguards or simply a homie who will have your weapons in his name with a license.
